To the family of Barry Rogers
His friends and buddies from Florida State send our condolences to you all. We have been trying to find him for the longest time and finally did only to learn of his passing. His roomies Allen Carnahan, Ray Roback and Charlie Pollock, wives Sandy Elbrecht-Roback and Donna Pollock were all together this past weekend for a game day weekend at FSU. We talked about how he needed to be there with us not knowing he had died. We were a tight circle but somehow drifted apart and have now gathered our circle together but have a piece missing.
We send you hugs. I know he is greatly missed.

Barry was my roommate at Florida State in the mid-1960's.  He was a terrific friend and an avid flyer.  We lost touch with each other over the years and I was unsuccessful in locating him two years ago.  Sadly, his obituary was found yesterday by one of our mutual friends with whom I reconnected last weekend.  We hadn't seen each other in 45 years and wished Barry was with us  for our reunion.  I'm sure I speak for all of us - Charlie, Donna, Sandy, and Ray - in extending our prayers and condolences to Barry's family.  We will miss him.

I am so sorry to hear this.  I worked Barry at Boeing.  He made me smile every time he came to our office. His sense of humor was fun.  Thought of him often after moving to FL.  Blessing to you, his family and friends. Sincerely, Christel

While I always appreciated Barry's warm and friendly nature, my fondest memory of him was on a 737 delivery flight to Cairo, Egypt a couple of decades ago.  I can remember Barry playing with Barbies with my young daughters (they are now grown with children of their own) on the airplane floor on the long trip.  It is just a snapshot of the great guy Barry was.  My wife, Sandy, our daughters and I will always remember him fondly.

It was my great fortune to work closely with Barry at Boeing for many years.  I can't imagine working with a finer teammate.  No matter what the request, he always cheerfully said "yes".  A passionate and skilled flight instructor, he always put his students first.  Not many weeks ago, I had the privilege of seeing him at a group lunch for former 767 instructors.  Even nearing the end of his life, Barry was upbeat, positive, and, as always, a gentlemen.

I miss 767 training with Barry.  He was always patient, encouraging and a great source of flying wisdom or information on system details. He was a great instructor and a great man, we will miss him.

I felt uplifted when I talked to Barry in the halls at work. He always had a smile and kind words which often did much to brighten my day. Barry was an excellent instructor and examiner. We always learned something new when he gave us an evaluation flight. I will miss him. I pray for God's comfort and blessings to Kathy and the rest of his family

Barry will be missed by all of his fellow 767 instructors.  I am grateful for the help and guidance I received from him when I first came to Boeing.  If I had a problem or question, I was always relieved when I saw Barry because I knew he would have the answers.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Barry's family.

It was indeed my greatest pleasure to be able to work with Barry these past 14 years.  While I could discuss at great length the vast amount of knowledge I garnered from him  both in terms of the technical details of the various Boeing airplane models and his lessons learned in teaching literally thousands of pilots how best to fly them  it really wouldn't touch the essence of who Barry was.  In my mind, I can see Barry walking in for another day at Boeing, a great big smile on his face.  He truly enjoyed the nature of the work he performed  helping others do better.  He was the consummate gentleman, always setting a high bar for how to conduct one's self professionally, and personally.  He always exhibited a kind heart, and a passion for his faith.  When others faltered, Barry held firm.  But he made it clear he could be a bit playful as well.  I remember one particular B-767 checkride where he gave us an engine failure on departure takeoff from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport  something we weren't expecting at 0600 in the morning  and then promptly closed the airport, forcing us to scramble to divert to Boeing Field.  All we heard was a short chuckle from the instructor's station!  That was it.  What a great man, with a great sense of humor.  He loved his wife and his children, and spoke of them freely.  People often speak of how their loved ones are taken too early in terms of age, but in Barry's case I would hope all would see it as I do.  Barry was taken too early in terms of his value to mankind.  In these difficult times, where America coarsens more and more each day, it is folks like Barry who remind us of the ideal to which we should aspire  in how we live, how we behave to each other, and the example we set for everyone whose lives we touch.  Goodbye, Barry.  I, for one, will never forget you.

May God's comfort and peace be with you all in this difficult time of grieving for your husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Barry was such a gentle, caring and loving man.  He loved his family and friends with all the care he could pour into those relationships.  I am privileged and honored to have known him and all of you!

God bless and be with you Kathy, Jay and Olivia, Rich and Taylor, Mark and Sarah, Will and Ella and Sadie and Colin as you say good bye for now to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and father in law.  Barry will be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers.  Love Laura and Steve
