She was born on August 17, 1924, in Lamar, Colorado, to Charlie and Myrtle LaVere Idler. The family moved to Grandview, Washington, where Dorothy and her siblings grew up. She graduated from Grandview High School and enjoyed many class reunions through the years with dear friends. On New Years Eve 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Ted Walker, and they shared 71 wonderful years together. They loved traveling by air, sea, and in their motorhome and enjoyed many years of camping and fishing with friends and family. Dorothy was an excellent cook, terrific homemaker, and expert seamstress. They lived in Grandview until ten years ago when they moved to a condominium in Bellevue to be closer to their extended family. Two children were born to this union, Janet Walker Jones and Jerry Walker, who were blessed with an amazing mother. The Walker family faithfully attended the Grandview Nazarene Church and were actively involved for many years. They were the owners/operators of the Grandview Laundromat from 1962 – 1987.

She is survived by her loving husband,Ted Walker, of Bellevue; daughter, Janet Walker Jones and husband, Bobby Jones, of Phoenix, AZ, and son, Jerry Walker and wife, Holly Walker, of Lake Stevens, WA. Thirteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, as well as brother, Melvin Idler, of Yakima, WA, also survive her. Special thanks to two special friends: Ron Egbert, from Westminster Chapel, Bellevue, who befriended, provided transportation to Bible Study each week, and frequently visited them; and Angel ??, who provided residential and personal care in the last year they lived in their condo. Dorothy was deeply loved and respected by her family and numerous friends. She was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus and her life exemplified her Christian faith and was an example to all. She will be missed and remembered with love.
