Ellie learned resilience at a young age when her family was interned at the Minidoka, Idaho Concentration Camp during WWII and then later in life, moving through the death of her son with grace and dignity.
Her family moved to Spokane after the war and it was there that she met her soon to be husband at Lewis and Clark HS. She moved to Seattle with her long time school friend, and worked at Prudential Financial.
She married Ron Yoshida in 1959 in Spokane (married for almost 66 years!). They moved to Honolulu where Ron was stationed in the Army at Tripler Hospital. After two years, they moved back to the Seattle area where she and Ron raised their two children. She worked many years in accounts payable and as an executive assistant for the Anthony’s Homeport restaurant group. She enjoyed traveling and spending every December in Maui, her home away from home. Her recent joys were watching her granddaughter play D1 college soccer and spending time with lifelong friends.
Her husband, Ron, daughter Jana (Blake), granddaughter Karli, many family members and close friends will miss her remarkable kindness and quiet nature.
Private burial services will be held according to Ellie’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church and/or to the Maui Humane Society.
