Feraidoon Farhang, son of Mansoureh and Morteza Farhang was born in Tehran, Iran on October 13, 1935. After a long yet well fought battle with Parkinson’s disease, he passed away peacefully on October 7th at Overlake Medical center in Bellevue, Washington with his loved ones at his bedside. He was 79 years old. Feraidoon grew up in Tehran, earned a Master’s degree in management and his keen interests and talents in mathematics, and finance enabled him to land a management position with the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) focusing on the foreign exchange market. This role enabled him to travel the world, honing his skills on central banking, and eventually provided him with the opportunity to work for the Chase Manhattan Bank of New York in the 1960’s. The 1970’s provided a different environment, one wrought with worry and tribulation as the Iranian revolution of 1979 drastically changed the landscape of the country for the majority of Iranians. Disillusioned by the impact of the revolution, Feraidoon made the decision to immigrate to the United States with his family in search of opportunity and ultimately a better life for his only daughter, so that she may have the platform to succeed. In this new land which he loved, admired and adopted as his own, he again built another life for his wife and daughter. He was in his prime, a lover of political theory and democratic values, a champion of those who were voiceless, a fiercely loyal man to his family, a beloved father, and a much loved uncle, who also cherished his nephews, nieces and wonderful friendships. He is survived by his wife Firoozeh, his daughter Faye, his son-in-law Cory and his grandson, Darian whom he loved very much. He will be sorely missed by his loving family.
