

Gene Rodney Myers was born September 1, 1925 to Harry and Evelyn Myers in Polson, Montana. The family migrated to Seattle, Washington in 1940. At Queen Anne he met his high-school sweetheart, Winnie. They were married June 12, 1943 and recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary by cruising to Alaska.
He attended Curtiss-Wright Technical Institute of Aeronautics and was a private pilot in his younger years. For over 43 years, Gene was a devoted Boeing employee, his most memorable work being integral to the B-17, B-52, Dash 80 (707), and Marine Systems where he was known as “the father of the hydrofoil program.” He retired in 1986. He cherished his family and friends and was appreciated as a friend, jokester, and mentor by those around him.
Gene passed quietly on August 23, 2010 after battling Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer, for over 17 years and overcoming Lymphoma just last year. Gene is preceded in death by his brother Kenny and their parents. He is survived by his wife, Winnie, children Bob, Lynn, and Doug, and grandchildren, Phillip, Lea, Melissa, and Loren.
A remembrance service will be held on Sept. 4th from 12- 1 PM, followed immediately by a celebration of Gene’s life until 4 PM, both at Bellevue Towers: 500 106th Ave. NE, Bellevue, WA, 98004.
