

Jack Wesley LeVeque, 86, passed away on September 9, 2010 in Bellevue, Washington. He was born the youngest of four children to Roy and Claudine LeVeque on May 13, 1924 in Anacortes, Washington. He attended Garfield High School where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball and remained lifelong friends with several of his classmates. Wes proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Santa Fe in the South Pacific. He was credited with saving the life of a drowning sailor who periodically contacted Wes to say thank you. After the war ended, he attended Central Washington University. Upon graduation, he was employed by The Boeing Company where he worked for 37 years, retiring from the company in 1987.
On September 24, 1949, Wes wed his beloved wife, Janet, to whom he was married for 57 years. They raised their two sons, Scott and Brad, in Bellevue and were avid supporters of their academic and athletic pursuits. An excellent golfer, he frequently competed with his sons and enjoyed his last round at the age of 85. He was a loyal fan of Washington Husky Football and Basketball. In his retirement years, Wes enjoyed travels on Cruise Ships, Mariner’s Spring Training, sight-seeing in Italy, and frequent trips to Whidbey Island.
He was a devoted husband to Jan, who preceded him in death in 2006. Survived by sons Scott and his wife Marcia, and their daughters, Kristi and Julie; Brad and his wife Karen, and their daughters, Lindsay, Marisa, and Katie, all of Bellevue. Being the cheerful, kind Papa came naturally to him and he never failed to ask about his cherished granddaughters. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial service will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue at 3:30 p.m. on September 20, 2010. If desired, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
