Janet Irene Bahner passed away on May 23, 2025, in Kirkland, Washington. She was born on December 29, 1947, in Yakima, Washington, to Herchel and Alice Cary. As a young child, she moved with her family to Bellevue, Washington.
Janet was first married to Ken Danberg in 1969, and together they had one daughter, Joanie McCann. In 1979, she married John Bahner, and they had a daughter, Cary-Ann Anderson. She also helped raise Gregg Kenefsky, whom she lovingly considered her son.
Janet spent many years working as a hair stylist before opening The Tin Shoppe with John in 1984. The couple built a fulfilling life together in Redmond, Washington, until John’s retirement in 2000. Afterward, they moved full-time to their beloved vacation home in Ocean Park, Washington. On the Peninsula Janet made many friends and became an accomplished quilter.
A talented and creative spirit, Janet excelled in numerous crafts, including quilting, sewing, making porcelain dolls, jewelry making, and painting. She also had a passion for baking—her raspberry chiffon pie and homemade jam were especially cherished by family and friends.
Janet and John remained in Ocean Park until his passing in 2010. She then relocated to be closer to family and most recently lived at Creekside Senior Living in Woodinville, Washington, where she made many friends and took up a new hobby: learning to play poker.
Janet had a vibrant sense of style and a well-known love of shoes, which she proudly displayed in her extensive collection.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Cary, and both of her husbands. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ian Anderson and Maxine Kenefsky; her grandchildren, Ayla and Justice McCann, Cooper Kenefsky, Evangeline, Hailey, Carter, and Ryker Anderson; and her great-grandson, Chandler McCann.
