

Jean Gilpatrick Schiffman, 89 of Bellevue, Washington, passed away on March 9th, 2021 of natural causes.
Jean was born on August 22, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Matthews Gilpatrick, an Attorney, and Mabel M. Knollin Gilpatrick, an Underwriter at Waddell & Reed Insurance. Her family eventually moved to Washington State where Jean attended Walla Walla High School. She graduated as a member of the National Honor Society.
Jean married Grover D. Schiffman on February 16th, 1958. Soon after Jean and Grover relocated to the westside of the state to raise their three sons, Wayne, Don, and Leonard (Bill) in Bellevue, WA. In addition to raising her family, Jean worked as a Mortgage Processer/Loan officer in Bellevue for many years. Jean was a devout Christian who cherished her faith and demonstrated her religious conviction through decades of bible study, prayer groups, mentorship of new Christians and long-standing membership at Westminster Chapel. Jean loved reading, gardening, bird watching, bible study and The Lord.
Most of all she loved her family. Jean and Grover moved to Tam O’ Shanter Golf and Country Club in the 1980s to be around the corner from her sons and Grandchildren. She was “Nana” not just to her own grandkids, but to all of their friends too.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Albert Gilpatrick, granddaughter Melissa J. Schiffman and grandson Joshua D. Schiffman. She is survived by her sons Robert W. Schiffman (Leslie), Don M. Schiffman and Leonard W. Schiffman; her grandchildren Jennifer LeFebvre, John Schiffman (Melissa), Julie Moore (John) and Michael Bessenyey (Megan) and great grandchildren; Jackson LeFebvre, Robert S. LeFebvre, Cameron Bessenyey, Kaia Bessenyey and Addison Schiffman.
A private graveside service will be held on March 16th, 2021. A public memorial will be held on a future date at Westminster Chapel as soon as it is safe to do so.
