Born on March 31, 1945, in Great Neck, New York, to Leslie Warren Jordan Hart and Agnes Elizabeth Rude, Lois came into the world with a spirit that would go on to touch countless lives. From her earliest years, her ambitions were clear and beautiful in their simplicity… to build a family, to love a husband, and to nurture young children. She fulfilled every one of those dreams and so much more.
Lois's devotion to children extended far beyond her own home. She taught English while living in Mexico, bringing language and possibility to young learners, and went on to serve in the administration of early childcare within the Bellevue School District; work she considered among her proudest achievements, alongside the milestone of her high school graduation. She believed deeply in the power of guidance, care, and presence in shaping a child's world.
Her life was punctuated by joy gathering with dear friends, tending to her garden, working through puzzles, camping under open skies, singing, dancing, and cherishing family reunions above nearly all else. In her later years, she fulfilled a dream of traveling through Europe with Jaime, a chapter she held with special pride and wonder. Her heart also had room for her beloved canine pets who were constants in her daily life.
Perhaps the moments Lois held closest were the births within her family, welcoming her own children into the world and bearing witness to new generations arriving and the tender privilege of caring for her mother in her final years. These were the sacred, unhurried moments that revealed who she truly was.
Lois wished most to be remembered as a person free of prejudice and judgment; a caring, tender human being with a captivating smile and a heart turned toward God. She hoped that all who knew her carried that lesson forward: to love without condition and to see every person with open eyes.
Her favorite color was lavender. Her favorite song was Don't Cry for Me, Argentina. And in many ways, both captured her perfectly… gentle, passionate, and quietly unforgettable.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Jaime Manuel; her children, Jaime Jr., Debra Ann Hendrick, and Delores Grace Wright; and her cherished grandchildren, Kayleigh Elizabeth Wright, Jesse Wright, and Macy Grace Flynn.
A Funeral Service will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue, Washington on Tuesday, March 31st at 11:00 AM, with a catered reception to follow. All are welcome to come and celebrate a life so lovingly lived.
"Unprejudiced, non-judgmental, caring, and tender,” just as she hoped to be remembered, and exactly as she was.
In loving memory of Lois, in lieu of flowers we encourage any donations to go to the Alzheimer's Association at the following link:
