

Lowell D. Olson, 90, passed away in Bremerton on July 18, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. The son of Erna and Reuben Olson, he was born April 12, 1923 in Garner, Iowa and graduated from Garner High School. During WWII, he moved to Bremerton and served in the Army Air Force from 1944 - 1945 as a Bombardier Specialist on B-17s. On December 24, 1942, he married Joyce Jones. Together for 32 years, they raised seven children. On April 4, 1975, he married Beryl Deal and welcomed her three children into the family.
Lowell was a farmer, Fuller Brush and real estate salesman. He was preceded in death by his wives, Joyce (1974) and Beryl (2008); his parents, Erna and Reuben; brother, Arlo; sister, Elvira Petit; two sons, Lowell Jr. and Iver and daughter-in-law, Diana. He is survived by his children, Rondi Akers-Amidon (Dallas) of Heron Island, Sharon Esau (Bert) of Bremerton, Daryl Olson (Deborah) of Seattle, Bruce Olson of Everett, Debra Olson of Tacoma, Ralph Deal of Marysville, Susan Fay (Jim) of Camano Island, and Robert Deal (Ruth) of Portland; daughter-in-law Anna Marie Betit of Whidbey Island; 24 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He loved family gatherings, golf, gardening, dancing and playing bridge. Lowell will be greatly missed and remembered for his amazing smile, pleasant personality and teasing nature.
A celebration of his life will be July 30, 2013 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Kitsap County. A special thanks to the staff at Marine Courte for their excellent care of our loving father and our family during his final days.
