Our beloved Margaret Alexa Bolles died peacefully in her home at 94 on Saturday, December 10, 2022, surrounded by friends and family. Born on February 22, 1928, the daughter of Lillian Gengler, Marge grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She began her college studies at Marquette University in 1947 where she met the love of her life, medical student Leo Bolles, one fateful night at a school dance. They married in 1948 and moved to Seattle in 1950, where they would raise five dear children – Terry, Tom, Kelly, Edward and David. The family enjoyed memorable trips to Birch Bay, traveling to Europe and skiing in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As the doctor’s wife, Marge loved to host friends and family for dinner parties at their home in Clyde Hill; the house was always full with children, food, music and laughter. With the children in school, Marge returned to Seattle University from 1962 - 1965 but she fell ill with a rare autoimmune disease that would later be diagnosed as Multiple Sclerosis. She would battle MS bravely for the rest of her life with the support of her husband and family. Not one to let physical limitations stand in her way, she returned to Seattle University in 1976 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Information in 1980. She often spoke fondly of taking classes with her son David (and earning better marks than him). Throughout her life, Marge had a fine appreciation for music and a beautiful voice; she enjoyed playing the piano and singing for others, and in her later years Christmas caroling with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also impressive with a crossword puzzle and a fierce Scrabble competitor. Marge exuded a positivity and an infectious joy that was, quite simply, remarkable. Her wry sense of humor was delightful until her dying day. She loved her dogs and always had one or more canine companions who never left her side. She drew strength from her Catholic faith and her love for her family, who will miss her sorely. Margaret was preceded in death by her oldest son, Thomas, husband Leo, daughter Terry, and youngest son David. She is survived by her sons Kelly and Ed; son-in-law Barry, daughters-in-law Judy and Monica; five grandchildren John, Brian, Jenny, McKenzie and Gabriel; seven great-grandchildren, and beloved caretaker of eleven years Mere Autar. God has a special place in His heart for you, Margie. A funeral service and burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 1575 145th Pl SE, Bellevue, WA 98007 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2022, followed by a reception; viewing will be Tuesday, January 10th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
