Arrangements Margaret Arlene Mullen, known as Arlene by family and close friends, was born at home in Redmond, WA on January 21, 1934 to Dwenar and Joseph Forgue. She came from a large family with 5 sisters and 4 brothers. She graduated from Lake Washington High School and soon after started a family of her own with her husband, Forrest Mullen. Together they had 8 children: Lois Peterson, Doug Mullen, Gail Coby, John Mullen, Judy Harder, Cheryl Mullen, Joseph Mullen and Ray Mullen. She also has two stepsons; Michael and Steven Mullen. Our family continued to rapidly grow with 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Family was everything to Mom and she always showed her love with her kind heart and strong family values. She always took great pride in her family and was very proud of each and every one of them and never failed to tell them so and well, anyone else who would listen.
Mom was a lifelong member of the Snoqualmie Tribe, in which she served over 20 years on the tribal council and recently retired from the tribe in May 2013 due to health issues. The Tribe was a major part of her family values and she loved participating in cultural activities including the annual canoe journey. She never missed seeing them start the journey from Fall City and to be there at the end to help bring them ashore. She was recently honored with naming a canoe that was hand carved by Snoqualmie Traditional Carvers. She made many new friends everywhere she went. She was a very social and a well-respected lady everywhere she went leaving yet, another positive footprint on her life long journey.
Mom enjoyed life to the fullest and knew how to have a good time! She could bring a smile to anyone’s face with her wonderful sense of humor. Her laughter was contagious; you couldn’t help but laugh with her. She was also known for making an off the wall statement catching you off guard, and she would just laugh and say “Oh! Did I say that?” Mom was very generous and very giving. You could give her $100.00 to spend on herself and be assured; she would give it to someone else feeling they needed it more than she did.
