Mikey lived his life with courage, strength and joy. He always inspired people to do their best. Those of us who loved him gained more than words can describe. He was born in Los Angeles, California after the death of his identical twin brother Adonis. At Cedar Sinai Medical Center as a premie he spent 91 days in the NICU prior to coming home to Agoura Hills, CA. He sustained brain damage that resulted in cerebral palsy, seizures and various other related conditions. Mikey continued to try harder than most any kid. He brought many special people to our lives, as well as a series of “ologists” (e.g. neonatologist, neurologist, pulmonologist). The early years brought on many medical complications and Mikey fought each one like a true warrior. Mikey fought his disability and illnesses fiercely, but loved his family and friends gently. Mikey never stopped having fun. He was a lover of hugs, kisses, laughter and music. He had a passion for eating delicious foods and drinks.
Mikey was a world traveler having spent 3 months in Brisbane, Australia and even visited the Great Barrier Reef where he rode in a glass bottom boat, fed the dolphins and journeyed out onto the coral cay of Heron Island. Mikey loved to travel and go on adventures. He moved to Huntsville, Alabama and met an outstanding group of teachers, nurses, therapists and doctors. Mikey recently moved to Mercer Island, Washington where he once again found the best teachers, nurses, therapists and doctors. With every move Mikey inspired everyone to be better and in return he received outstanding compassionate care where ever he went.
Mikey had many friends from everywhere he lived. He loved music, food, laughter, teasing, pulling hair, pinching, plucking his uklele, playing with his toys and loving his family and friends. Mikey is survived by his parents Steve & Lisa Hobart and siblings Bryan, Anthony and Stephanie. Please join us for a memorial to celebrate Mikey’s life on 9/7/13 at 2 pm at the Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007. Be prepared to speak of good times and be ready to sing.
