Robert "Bob" W. Herst-Born Feb 3, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa and died at his residence May 19, 2013 in Bothell, WA. He enlisted with the Marine Corps in 1968 and served four years as an aircraft mechanic and a member of the civic action team. During service in Vietnam he was awarded the Cross of Gallantry. Bob began his career in law enforcement as a police officer with the San Diego County Sheriffs Department in 1976 and later transferred to Bellevue Police Department in 1982. He worked for the Bellevue Police Department for 31 years as a fraud detective, narcotics and as a patrol officer, He was known for his quick wit, wicked sense of humor and storytelling. He loved BBQ, homemade ice cream, Hawaiian shirts and his family. Bob was a passionate Harley rider who loved modifying his bike and working in his garage. He is survived by his daughter, Kristi (Josh), grandchildren, Lucas and Marissa, sister, Mary (Milo), and companion, Leslie.
