I think of Tom often. Especially while trying to move along his ECM program at work. I’ve been working with a few of his PPT presentations these last few weeks. I think he’d be happy with the progress. His ECM team was in the middle of a meeting last year when I got the news and immediately shared it with them. Due to COVID we couldn’t honor him by going to a memorial. So, we did one of our own. I dedicated a whole meeting to him. We all went around our virtual table and spoke of fond memories of him. We laughed and cried. He was such a good man and a great team player. He is very missed. 

It is so distressing to hear of Tom's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him for 3 years at PSE and in that time, he was always such the most delightful, helpful, and kind co-worker.  Our work schedules and habits were rather similar so we'd be able to chat or have a quick hello probably two to three times a week.  Whenever we had a problem to solve together, he invariably provided keen insight and help to do so. 
I hope that his family will be able to find consolation and comfort knowing that he will be remembered fondly for his kindness and wry sense of humor. My sincere condolences to you all!


Everyone at PSE loved working with Tom.  Over the course of this week, so many of his workmates have expressed their sadness at his passing.  Tom meant so much to us – we all miss him.  I had the pleasure of working with Tom for five years.  He was kind, thoughtful, funny, and gentle.  I really miss our end-of-the-workday discussions.  When Tom would smile, he had this twinkle in his eye that just put you at ease.
The Records team (Tom and his workmate Terry) and I would perform quarterly site visits to different PSE locations.  We’d often combine our quarterly social activities into those trips.  Some of my best memories of Tom were the discussions we had travelling to the different locations.  Tom loved discussing films, movies, books, history, politics, and current events; it was always an engaging and enjoyable discussion. My condolences to the family. 

I've known Tom briefly while interning at PSE. He and I had adjacent cubes in the office. On my first day at work, he stopped by my cube and introduced himself with the biggest smile and ever since, I remember him to be one of the few friendly faces I look forward to bumping into at work. 

May his soul rest in peace. 

I was deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing. He was kind, funny and a gentleman through and through.  I remember the many days we worked together on a demanding project. The entire team was in the same conference room for many hours each day, and when things got frustrating Tom would also say something humorous, which immediately put the team in a better mood. What I liked most about Tom was his ability to see things not for what they were but what they could be. 

A gentle soul who will be missed. RIP.

My heart goes out to all of you family and friends who will greatly miss Tom.   He was so kind and gentle with that special glint in his eyes.  I will miss him!

I remember when I first met Tom at Weyerhaeuser when he became the forms manager there. I liked he right away. He was just that kind of person.
Later on I would see Tom regularly at ARMA meetings as we had both moved on. It was always like old home week. 
I'm so sorry to learn that Tom has passed. The world lost a funny, compassionate, caring individual. My condolences to Tom's family. 

Dear Shull Family. I am very sorry for the loss of your beloved father, brother, and partner.  I knew Tom thru our professional organization.  He was a good man. 

I met Tom working together at PSE.   Tom was unflappable.  He was sincere, patient, kind and happy.  He was generous with praise, and searched for solutions that worked for everyone.   In times like these, we need more of Tom and people like him.  I miss him.  I wish his family and friends strength, comfort and hope. I will try to honor his life by recalling his unique manner, and treasuring his memory.

Tom was such a kind, patient, and supportive friend. I am so fortunate to have known him for almost 40 years. Tom’s love of photography was contagious! I have an amazing siblings family portrait that Tom took of us in the backyard of his Bellevue house. It hangs proudly in my house.  Luckily, I have many found memories to look back on. Tom was loved by many and will be missed.

I met Tom in 1983 when I started working at PACCAR as a Forms Analyst. I worked for him on and off for years, first at PACCAR and later at Weyerhaeuser. He was the best boss I ever had. He had high standards, but he was always encouraging and supportive of our efforts and open to new ideas. He remained unruffled no matter what the situation and helped me to learn patience and persistence. We have kept in touch throughout the years, usually in January around his birthday.  I have tremendous respect for him and I mourn his passing. 
Thanks for the introduction to UB40, Tom. I'm going to go and listen to their music, and think about the 37 years I knew you. Peace, brother. 

I knew Tom for many years through the ARMA community.  He was a valued member of the Great Northwest ARMA family and he was also a kind a wonderful man.  I am saddened to lose him.  My deepest sympathies to his family and friends for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing and send my condolences to the family. I worked with Tom at PSE and remember him as one of the kindest people I had worked with. He always greeted me with a smile and we shared our love of soda together.

Tom was a great man. I worked with him on several projects at PSE. He was always very professional, with a quiet way. I did discover that he had a wonderful wit and great sense of humor.  He was a joy!

Tom was a pleasure to work with at PSE and I am thankful I had the opportunity to know him, to work with him and all of the wonderful conversations we had. He was such a sweet man, always smiling, light hearted and he is greatly missed.   

Tom - You were the sweetest man. We always met in the kitchen and exchanged friendly hellos. I will never forget your brown bag lunches and soda bottles. You also displayed a kind spirit about you. Be blessed Tom. 

My first day in Bellevue at PSE was pretty intimidating, until I ran into Tom. He was one of the first people that I was introduced to and to be honest probably one of the only people I remember meeting that first day. His calm demeanor was so strong that I felt more comfortable in this new job right away. 

From that day forward he always took time out of his morning to swing by my desk and say hello. I will never forget seeing him every morning with his brown sack lunch and his diet coke or the one time that he spilled an entire cup of oatmeal in the middle of the hallway. He always had a smile on his face and always lit up when talking about his children and family. 

I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was a wonderful man and will be missed. 


Tom and I have been friends for close to 26 years.  I met Tom when he hired me to work for him at Weyerhaeuser Company in 1994.  He was my boss for 12 years. 

Tom was a person of integrity.  He was always there to support his team, and he trusted us to do our jobs well. Over the years at Weyerhaeuser, Tom rarely missed an opportunity to join his team for lunches and activities, he was never an aloof boss.  He empowered us to do our best work, to be creative in our approach and to share our ideas with each other in an attitude of learning.  He supported efforts to organize community service projects and was always willing to pitch in as a volunteer. 

Tom and I were avid readers and enjoyed involved discussions about the books we were reading.  Tom once gave me a memoir called, On Mexico Time, which was the inspiration for my 3-month trip to Mexico and Ecuador last summer. 

Tom also became a good friend of my husband, Matt—who I also met at Weyerhaeuser.  Tom assigned me to a project where Matt was my client.  Tom, you were the catalyst that lead to me finding the love of my life—and we are celebrating 20 years of marriage this year!  I am forever indebted to you!

Tom always spoke so warmly about his family, and never failed to keep us posted on how everyone was doing.  His kids were certainly his pride and joy! 

Thank you, Tom, for your valued friendship over the last 26 years.  You will be sorely missed.

Through tears I write how Tom would have loved the RLS quote that starts the wonderful video here -- a video which he'd have loved for the memories and the quirky shots.  
Years with Tom at PSE honored me to know a man of great intelligence, hidden skills, immense kindness, sharp humor, and a moral compass we would all benefit from following. During chats on our shared love of books, Tom's love and pride for his children would visibly swell up at the mere mention of their names. I envy you your father. I ache in sympathy for your loss. 
Tom was a man among men. The world is less for his passing, but greater for his having been a part of it. I feel blessed that he was part of mine.

I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Tom on several projects years ago at PSE and he was always the consummate professional and yet very cordial at the same time.   It certainly seems by the beautiful tribute video that Tom leaves behind a lasting legacy.   My prayers for the family and friends of Tom.

I was so saddened to hear of Tom’s passing.  I worked with him at PSE and he was a wonderful colleague.  He loved records and the archives and he was a great help to me on getting PSE archives recognized at the company.  He was always excited to hear of new finds and he was always sharing stories and information. He stayed connected and interested in the company archives.  He was a gentle and soft spoken person and I greatly enjoyed working with him.  I send his family and friends my greatest condolences.

I met Tom during his time at PSE.  We only share a few interactions together.  Mostly, we'd passed silently in the hallways as we walked to and from our desks, nodding an acknowledgement or saying a quick hello.  I recall a quiet, gentle man - always with a smile.  Thank you for sharing the photos of his life.   Through these, I can see how much in common I shared with him.  I hope you find comfort in his memory.

I am surprised and saddened to hear the news of Tom's passing. Although we have worked little over the last few years at PSE, I will always remember you as the gentle, kindest, and caring team member.

Such a beautiful tribute. Tom was  a wonderful Uncle to my sons.. they loved their adventures with Uncle Tom. He was always patient, and so much fun. He will be missed. Sending love to all, Renee 

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. 
I worked closely with Tom for the last 6 years of his employment before he retired. We managed the Records Management program together at PSE.  During his employment we went on several road trips together to other sites.  From Bellingham and Whidbey Island, to Longview, to Wild Horse in eastern Washington, we spent a lot of time in a car getting to know each other.  He interacted with people from all over the company and all who knew him thought highly of him.  It was an honor to have known him.  In some ways, I feel like I've met many of his family members through his stories and memories of his life.  Please know many of us he worked with are grieving with you from a distance. You are all in my thoughts, my prayers, and my heart.
