Jimmy was my friend and I will miss him so much. He loved to sit or work outside, always building things, growing plants, fruit trees, tomatoes. He loved watching the goings on of E Street, from his chair that either sat in the breezeway or on the side of his house. He had multiple cats that loved him as much as he loved them. Moo Moo was black and white and never far from him. When the weather was too cold or wet for him to be outside, those cats would be sitting in the windowsill or on his porch. I will miss seeing all of these things. Jimmy taught me how important it is to keep going, to never give up. He never gave up, always moving, always smiling, always happy to see people and hopeful they stop for a while. He had so many stories and he loved talking about Mary Ellen, his late wife. His daughter Joyce would faithfully pull up into the driveway a few times a day to bring him lunch / dinner, or just to check on him. He was so loved and he loved others well. I will miss his smile and his entertaining stories, sense of humor. The street isn’t the same without him. He was a wonderful man.

My Dear friend Jimmy,
 My memories of you are so many, that it's difficult to put them all into a short note.
I met you in 2003 as the result of buying a Morris Minor. I'd been told there was a gent in Bentonville that had several Minors and I should look you up.
 That was the beginning of a 20 year friendship that I will never forget.
 Jimmy, to say that I will miss you is an understatement, but I can continue to visit you where you now rest.
 You were a great friend to me and I look forward to meeting you again.
See you in Heaven my friend.

My thoughts, prayers and love go out to the family of James William Dean—with a special hug for my dear friend Joyce.  Joyce, you are and were a loving and caring daughter, always thinking of your dad and striving to insure that his needs were met.  I know that he felt loved and cared for.  He takes that with him as he leaves this place for the next part of his journey.  “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”  I hope you are comforted by the knowledge that there can be no safer nor sweeter place to be than in the presence of the Lord.  May the Lord keep  watch over the family of James William Dean.  God is close to the broken-hearted.  I pray His peace and His love surrounds you in the days ahead.

Dear Joyce, I have so many fond memories of your dad - he was my neighbor on SW E St. He made an ice cream scoop and a tiny mantle clock for me - he was quite a craftsman - I am happy to share them with you.  He taught me how to grow sunflowers and was always leaving tomatoes and other vegetables at my front door. My kids were lucky enough to get a tour of his shop and all the old cars and trucks still there. Rest in Peace Jimmy. Best from Paige Jernigan

Loved him Joyce. Always glad to see us. You were lucky to have him so long and what a devoted and loving daughter you were to him. Always cooking his meals and checking on him multiple times a day. Please know you were a great daughter to him and he was blessed to have you as well. We will all miss him. 🌷
