Anna Pauline Walck Campbell Darling was born September 6, 1933 in Saratoga, Wyoming of unnamed parents. Frank and Edna Walck adopted Pauline as a newborn infant. In 1935 Frank Walck died of pneumonia. Edna married Joseph Campbell, an influential sheep rancher, three years later. Joe adopted Pauline where she grew up living on his sheep ranch.
Pauline attended first grade school in Saratoga then completed her schooling in Rawlins, Wyoming, where she graduated in 1951. In high school, she was in band where she played the bass clarinet. She met the love of her life, Norman (Mick) Darling her senior year. After graduation, she attended the University of Wyoming as an education major and played bass clarinet in the U of W Cowboy band.
Pauline and Mick married June of 1953, moving to Bairoil, Wyoming then later moved to Powell, Wyoming where they lived for twelve years. They had four children, Paula Jo, Carol, Boyd (Buddy) and Mary, during their marriage. Pauline was a homemaker and devout Catholic. Pauline and Mick moved to Johnson, Arkansas in 1978 where they purchased and ran a mobile home park. She was elected and served as the mayor of Johnson for 18 months. After selling the mobile home park, Mick and Pauline traveled extensively full time in their RV and Pauline served on the state staff of the Arkansas Chapter of Good Sam's.
Mick preceded her in death in 2000 after 47 years of marriage.
Pauline then moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas and finally settled in Bentonville, Arkansas.
She loved to travel, having traveled to 48 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, Israel among many other destinations. Her biggest passion was her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Walck, Joe and Edna Campbell, her In-Laws Boyd & Estella Darling, husband Mick, and one son-in-law, Mark Basset of Fayetteville, AR.
She is survived by daughters Paula Jo (Steve) Benson of Gravette, Arkansas; Carol (John) Freeman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Mary Basset of Springdale, Arkansas; son Boyd (Annette Darling of Holiday Island, Arkansas; sister in-law Jane Williams of Lovell, Wyoming, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren as well as a host of friends.
