Barbara Wheeler was born September 28, 1939 to William and Jane Bercky in Oklahoma City. She departed this life on June 1, 2012 after a struggle recovering from open-heart surgery. She was a loving Sister, Mother, and Grandmother. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and had subsequent careers as a Dental Assistant, Property Manager, and Customer Service Manager for Wal-Mart. As a child she lived several years in Clinton, Oklahoma and as an adult, lived many years in Amarillo, Texas. She will be missed by countless friends in Amarillo and Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by a Brother, Ronny of the home, a Son Kenneth Hughes and a Daughter Kennette Hughes of Oklahoma City, a Son Tony Hughes , Grandchildren Hannah, Zachary, and Sam Hughes all of Wichita Falls, Texas, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Services will be held at the Portland Avenue Baptist Church at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 6. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8 PM Tuesday at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany.
