Betty J Spikes Buckles

Betty JoAnn Buckles, born on July 27, 1942 in Greenfield, Oklahoma to Homer David and Amanda Lee Spikes, went home to Jesus on December 9, 2016 in Yukon, Oklahoma. JoAnn’s vocation was caring for special needs children. She was a beautiful person with a passion for helping those in need and often prepared home-cooked meals for large groups of children at churches in Bethany, Oklahoma. She had a very generous spirit and was the center of a large circle of family and friends. JoAnn was a very loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She had great empathy for others and expressed her love through cooking for and sheltering everyone she could. JoAnn is survived by her five children; Janie, Dennis, Larry, Kevin and Camille, her four grandchildren; Danielle, Desiree, Kristi, Angel and Sarah, five great-grandchildren and four sisters, Shirley, Linda, Anna and Karlotta. JoAnn was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband, J.D. Buckles and her sister, Connie Miller. Services are to be held at 2 pm, Monday, December 12th at Bill Merritt Funeral Service at 6201 NW 39th Expy, Bethany, OK 73008. Interment to follow the services at Sunny Lane Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm, Sunday, December 11th at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. JoAnn's wish was that canned goods be sent for donation in lieu of flowers.
