On August 29, 2012, our Mother, Cherie E. Burdett was lifted by the angels to be reunited with her heavenly father. After a long illness, she passed away peacefully, and is no longer in pain. She is whole and can see again. All who knew her will sorely miss her.
Cherie was born on May 3, 1930 in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania. She has lived the last 10 years in Oklahoma City, OK and previously lived in Jefferson, Texas at Lake O’ The Pines for many years after retirement where she loved to go fishing with her husband Ben! She is predeceased by her husband Benton L. Burdett, her parents, Ralph and Eleanor Ingram, a sister Norma Grimes, her brother Ralph “Bud” Ingram, a son-in-law, Robert J. Kelly and her grand-dog Pooh. She gave her husband Ben a final birthday present! She went to join him on his birthday and we know he was waiting with open arms to greet her.
Cherie was so full of life, even to the end. She loved people and enjoyed going places where she could watch them! She loved to go out to eat and shopping with her daughter Julie. Friday evenings were a special time for her as she and Julie would go out to eat with their friend Shirley Mathews to different places. She loved to try to new restaurants! She especially loved Cattleman’s or going to eat catfish at Woodbridge. Shirley’s granddaughter Lexus called them all the Granny Hoppers and eventually joined the “Granny Hopper’s” on Friday’s as well! She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She also loved making trips back to Texas to visit with her son Kerry and his family, especially when she got to ride the train! She loved “playing” with him as she called it, in his “man-cave” and watching him build things or working on his Harley!
She leaves behind many broken hearts. She is survived by her sister Doris L. Young of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, her son, Kerry M. Burdett and his wife Lesa, of Gilmer, Texas, her daughter Julie Kelly of Oklahoma City, OK. Her granddaughter April D. Bynum of Longview, Texas and her two great-granddaughters, Mailey and Allie, and her grandson Lance Duke, and granddaughter Mary Adair both of Texas. Two grand-cats, Sebastian and Lucy, and two grand-dogs, Bella and Eve. She also left behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many friends as well, all who loved her dearly. One special niece who helped care for her in her time of illness, Leslie Stevens, made the last days of her life so very special, and there are no words that can fully express the love and gratefulness Cherie and her family have for her. We truly do not know what we would have done without her loving kindness and caring for our special Mother!
Mom, you were dearly loved and will be missed forever!
