

Charlotte Darlene Mitchell born March 21, 1937 in Konowa, Oklahoma to Charlie and Gladys Spurlock, has gone to join friends and family who forged a path on January 10, 2025. The Spurlocks moved to Oklahoma City in the early 1950’s where Darlene graduated from Northeast High School. Darlene married John Rex Mitchell in 1961. Darlene would raise a military family living in Texas, Oklahoma and Fulda, Germany until retirement in 1974. This gave her the opportunity to see Hawaii, Sweden, Holland, Germany, and other destinations in Europe, creating a love of travel in her. Back in Oklahoma, Darlene raised two girls and embraced their activities and friends, as well as the Bethany and Putnam City West community. With her children grown, Darlene pursued a career in Real Estate with Prudential Alliance and Keller Williams. At the same time, she began to enjoy her precious grandchildren and now great grands. Darlene was always ready to go for a game, performance or trip and continued to pursue her children and travel until her death. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Lee Spurlock and sisters, Mary Jo Hocker and Barbara Spurlock. Darlene is survived by her daughters Stacy Ingram and husband Grant Gilchrist of Tomball, Tx and Cathy Coats and husband Kendal of Broken Arrow, Ok; her sister, Carolyn Sims of Oklahoma City , Ok, Grandchildren; Kyla Hobgood and husband Zak of Piedmont, Ok; Britani Perryman and husband, Justin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Lindsay Ingram, Norman, Ok; Justin Ingram, Edmond, Ok, Madison Ingram, Tomball, Tx, Patrick Gilchrist, Los Angeles,CA, Katherine Gilchrist, Houston, Tx , Hudson Ingram and wife Jamie, Edmond, Ok and Jessica Ingram McGuire and husband Coby, Edmond,Ok and Greatgrands: Payton, Bryce, Blake and Arden and many other cousins, nieces, nephews - all dearly loved.
Those preferring donations to flowers are encouraged to make those to St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Oklahoma City in honor of Darlene.
A celebration of life for Darlene will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bill Merritt Funeral Service, 6201 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
