Douglas Wayne Crawford, 67 passed away January 9, 2011. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 1, 1943 to Luther J. and Vivian Crawford. He was a 1962 graduate of Southeast High School and a career grocery store manager. Doug spent 3 years in the Army Reserves serving the National Guard. He married Cecilia Hilley on June 21st, 1967 and they made their home in The Village. Doug and Celi were married for 26 years prior to her passing in 1994.
Doug and older brother Jerry were close. Hardly a day passed that they did not spend time together and not a day went by when there was not at least a phone call. “Brother” was the handle as neither ever used the other’s name. “Hey Brother!” “What going on Brother?”
Doug loved hot rods and was a master woodworker spending thousands of hours customizing and perfecting classic and contemporary cars. Doug was fond of overalls, armaments and their ammunitions, card games of challenge and collectable automobilia. Doug had a heart for old and young dogs alike, fancied tuck and roll upholstery and was partial to pinstripes. Doug prized the simple things in life.
Doug’s family and treasured friend Pat Caddell were dear to him. Pat’s friendship, at many levels, made him shine brightly. His nieces Christy and Courtney remained a cherished part of his life visible by the many pictures adorning his home. Special was his nephew Lance Crawford and his wife Kristi. A simple mention of River, Lake, Micha or Brooks beckoned a lopsided grin and chuckle. These kids share many of Doug’s interests and will continue his legacy.
We will miss reminiscing over coffee, strategizing the next project and contemplating the weekend football spread. Thanks for the memories friend, Uncle Doug…..Brother.
Arrangements under the direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Service, Bethany, OK.
