Elsa Louise Steele

Funeral service will be held at Highland Hills Baptist Church on March 25, 2017 at 10:00 am with Reverend Greg Jones of Highland Hills Baptist Church officiating. She will be buried at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. Bill Merritt Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Louise, as she was mostly known, was born in Des Moines, IA, to Warren and Beulah Clem on Christmas Day, 1924. She went to high school in Des Moines and graduated in 1942. After her graduation, Louise worked at Periodical Publishers in Des Moines where she met and later married Jesse Harrell Steele in January 1947. Both children of the Great Depression, they were possessed of a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. Louise and Jesse operated their own businesses for the next several decades and were successful, by any definition.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Beulah, and her brother Paul Burton Clem, and her youngest son, Richard Dana Steele.

Louise is survived by her brother Clifford Eugene Clem of Omaha Nebraska; daughter Dr. Linda Louise Steele, of Edmond OK; son Larry Alan Steele, of Oklahoma City, OK; and her son, Robert Lee Steele, of Ft. Worth, TX. Louise has 6 grand-children and 20 great grand-children.
