George Kenton Fisher, age 73, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Oklahoma City. He was born January 2, 1951 in Oklahoma City to George and Virginia (Clark) Fisher. After graduating from John Marshall High School, he went on to attend Missouri Southern State University and the University of Oklahoma. George began his working career in the oilfield before finding his passion in law enforcement, working for Bethany, Oklahoma County, as well as the Marshall’s service. He began working for Lucent Technologies as a security officer where he worked for twenty years before retiring. George then began working with his son in the oilfield until his final retirement in 2020. George met the love of his life, Janice Birzer, and they married on July 11, 1979 and raised their sons, Jeff and Matt. George was involved in his son’s lives where he coached their sports teams. Then came grandchildren, who he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. George was a hard-working man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His colorful clothes, his kindness, and his gentle soul will be missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alan Fisher. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice Fisher; sons and daughters-in-law, Matt Fisher and Melissa Mays, Jeff and Angie Lederer; grandchildren, Allison, Kelsey, Jacob, Brooke, Alyssa, and Colton; as well as 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4pm-8pm Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
Services will be 2pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
