

Hallie Ruth Payne Denny, 76, of Oklahoma City went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 1, 2011. Hallie Ruth was born on September 12, 1934 in Ardmore to Naomi Priddy and Charles Waller Payne. Hallie Ruth attended Putnam City High School and Oklahoma City University. She served faithfully at Putnam City Christian Church. She was a member of the choir, taught Bible school, and held numerous leadership positions. She worked at Western Electric, served as a director at Kindercare, and worked as a home health aide for 20 years at Mercy Hospital. Hallie loved to laugh, sing and praise her Lord and Savior. She lived a Christ centered life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She “adopted” numerous people and thus was known as “Mom” or “Grandma” by more than just her relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jack D. Denny in 1994. She is survived by 4 children, Jackie Hawkins and husband Toby, Kathy Brown and husband Eldon, Patrick Denny, Michael Denny and wife Betsy; 12 grandchildren, Joshua Hawkins and wife Heather, Rachel Hawkins, Mary Sprinkle and husband Ben, Timothy Hawkins, Scott Denny, Greg, Andrew and Steven Brown, Katie, Molly, Annie May and Jacqui Denny; 3 great grandchildren, Elyse, Aidan, and Aislinn Hawkins; her brother, Charles E. Payne; her sister-in-law, Betty Alden; 3 cousins, John Priddy, Hal Priddy, Jr., and Ann McGee. Hallie Ruth’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Putnam City Christian Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Oak View Cemetery in Crescent. Her family expresses special thanks to Dr. Michael Keefer and his staff as well as Mercy Hospice for their loving care and treatment.
