

Hayden W. Marrs, Jr. was born in Oklahoma City on December 14, 1924 to Hayden and Reka Marrs. He attended Central High School before leaving to serve in the US Army during WWII. He served in Headquarters Battery, 751st Field Artillery Battalion in Europe and was honorably discharged on October 20, 1945. Returning home he went to work at Griffith Theaters in what is now referred to as Film Row where he met the love of his life, Betty Burke. They were married on March 3, 1946 and had three children, Gary, Hayden and Pamela. He followed his Dad on the Oklahoma City Fire Department joining in 1946 and retiring in 1976 with the rank of Captain. Although his life revolved around his family, he enjoyed his model airplanes which he built from his teenage years until his passing. He also loved fishing and camping, his ham radio activities and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; and son, Hayden. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Gary and wife Judy; daughter, Pam Fielder and husband Greg; granddaughters, Debbie Marrs, Jessica Fielder, Brittany Parcell and husband Stephen, Cari Marrs; and several great grandchildren. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home from 6pm – 8pm Friday. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel.
