

Eva Jean Latham, 82, passed away on November 4, 2011. She was born November 23, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas to William and Eva Stoner. Jean attended Oklahoma City University when she met her future husband Jack Hunter Latham. Jean married Jack on December 1, 1949 in Oklahoma City. They resided in Oklahoma for a few years and then moved to South America where they lived in Venezuela and Columbia for several years and shared many adventures before moving back to Oklahoma City. After several years as a homemaker devoted to her family and various activities for her sons including scouting, swimming, baseball, football and various school projects, Jean worked as an Executive Secretary for Farmers Union until retirement. Jean loved traveling, gardening, arts and crafts, dancing, 1940’s music, decorating her home and yard, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Jean loved Greek history and mythology cumulating in her dream trip to Greece. Jean was accomplished in painting and ceramics where she took many honors. Her paintings inspired her granddaughter Kelly Latham, to take up illustration and graphic design as her vocation. Jean was the anchor for her family, loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Jean is survived by her three sons: Larry Latham of Oklahoma City, Lanny Latham of Lawrence, Kansas, and Les Latham of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Lilly and husband Nick Aguilar, and two great grandchildren, Diego and Mia Isabella Aguilar; granddaughter, Kelly Latham and grandson Michael Latham; as well as many other loving family members and friends, especially Beverly Caviness who devoted much time and heart to Jean.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Latham, and parents William Stoner and Eva Alves as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Chapel service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday 11/10/2011 at Bill Merritt Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Bill Merritt Tuesday and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
