

Jerell (Hawk) served in the United States Air Force then retired from the 507th Fighter Group
as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force Reserves in September 1995.
Jerell’s passion was playing softball. Jerell’s competitive spirit and dedication awarded him numerous trophies, medals, and awards, among them being inducted into the U.S.S.S.A. Hall of Fame in 1990 and to the Oklahoma Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2008. His passion allowed him to travel extensively to tournaments and world championships throughout the United States and Canada. The relationships he developed and the camaraderie of his teammates, as well as, competitors was his joy in life. His competitiveness, humor, laughter, and smile will be greatly missed by all who know him. Jerell lived and played life to the fullest.
Jerell is preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Essie Hawkins, four grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Penny, of 28 years, mother-in-law Anna Jean McKee, brother Jan Wayne Hawkins and wife Eola, sister Carol Tiger, six children, Jerry Hawkins and wife Wende, Billy Hawkins and wife Sara, David Hawkins, Sharon Burton and husband Tom; Curtis Hawkins and wife Regina, Angella Dushack and husband Steven; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other loved family and friends.
