

Marcus T. Campbell, “MT”, departed this life on February 14, 2013 at the age of 95 to join the Valentine of his life in Heaven. He was born February 22, 1917 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1938. He proudly served his country during WWII as a gunnery instructor for the Army Air Corps. He was stationed briefly after the war in Nuremberg Germany and he attended sessions of the Nuremberg war trials . After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned home to Oklahoma where he married Betty June Abernathy on April 20, 1947. He worked as a photographer's assistant before graduating from OCU with a degree in chemistry. He worked for the Sohio Oil Company, the International Crystal Company, and retired from the Kerr McGee Oil Company. He was a 60 year member of Central Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernie and Hattie (Jordan) Campbell, the love of his life for 61 years Betty, brother Bernie Eugene Campbell, and sister Mary Garrett-Lucado. He is survived by his sons Larry (Sandy) Campbell, David (Vivian) Campbell, daughter Karen Twellman; grandchildren, John Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Dianne Twellman, Rhea Anne (Campbell) Davis, and Derek Campbell, 5 great grand-children, and nephew Dr. Michael Martin. The family would like to thank Marcy and the other staff of Emerald Square for their loving care and friendship. Visitation will be Monday, February 18th, from 12-8 pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
