He worked as systems manager and developed and maintained all of the computer software since the inception of the auction. He started working for his father at Woody’s Garage in Muskogee when he was 5 years old and remained there until the 1980s, when he opened his own garage. He maintained the business until he pursued college and fell in love with computer programming. Rick loved to read and could easily read a book a day. He enjoyed 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s rock and roll and had a small garage band in the 70’s. He played guitar and sang. He also loved riding motorcycles and started riding when he was 13. He took motorcycle trips with his cherished friends: Mike Egdahl and Daniel Rowe, and treasured his Honda Goldwing. Rick was well known for his sense of humor and sharp wit. He strived to always do the right thing in any situation. He loved his family fiercely and was always happiest spending a day together at home laughing and reminiscing. Next to his family, the Auction was his life. He always had the welfare of the auction in mind with any decisions he made or actions he took.
