Our much beloved wife, mother, and gammi, Yvonne Dee Otts, at age 69, finally went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2022, after a long and hard fought battle in ICU. She was born May 13, 1953 in Oklahoma City to Paul and Cherrie (Fortner) Tritten. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1971. Later she went on to attend Central State, OSU, and Panhandle University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. At that time Yvonne then decided to attend Southern Nazarene University where she received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a proud, loving, and devoted teacher for over 30 years at various Christian academies. She was an excellent teacher, being as she was a big kid herself! There was not one child’s life she did not make an impact on during her many years as a teacher. Her students would say she was, “the best”! After many long and tearful prayers with God, Yvonne finally met the absolute love of her life, Robert Otts, and they were married on July 24, 1982. He was the man she had been asking God for, for so long. He was more than perfect in her eyes and OHHH so tall! Then on January 26, 1985, they both welcomed their little baby girl, Stephanie, who was the joy of Yvonne’s life. She was not only her daughter but as Yvonne would say “her little bitty best friend”. They were always inseparable. From always being together at the same Christian schools Yvonne taught at, to setting up her classroom every year, and then their numerous adventurous trips and shopping sprees. There was never a dull moment when they were together. Yvonne was a devout Christian and would read her bible every day. If she missed a day or two she had an enormous conviction and would always say she couldn’t do anything till she got caught up on her bible reading. She loved God with all her heart and it showed so much so, a Christian school principal once asked, “ Yvonne, how can you be so honest?!” At which Yvonne replied, “ Isn’t that what God expects us to be?” Yvonne later was blessed to become a proud Gammi to her three precious and handsome grandsons, Huddson, Hollister, and Scout. She absolutely adored them!! They were her little guys; Hudd Budd, Holl Ball, and Scouty Rowdy. She also loved the ocean and the big waves. If it didn’t have big waves, it was a lake to Yvonne. She and her family would take numerous trips over the years to Galveston Island. She was also a huge animal lover from dogs and cats to guinea pigs and parakeets. Yvonne had a smile that would light up a room and a personality that would make you laugh until your sides hurt. She was warm, kind, bubbly, sweet, funny, and loved by all who knew her. Yvonne was a bright shining light that radiated warmth and happiness and will be missed beyond words, by all those who loved her and whose lives she so deeply touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Otts; daughter, Stephanie Myers; grandchildren, Huddson Brown, Hollister Brown, and Scout Myers; cousins, Mike McBroom and Bobby McBroom (Clara) and their mother, JoAnn McBroom.
