

Allan C. (Al, AJ) Johnson Sr. of Port Crane, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from home where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1939 in Cadosia, NY to the late Russell and Bernice Johnson. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his sisters, Jackie and Betty, brothers, Gail, Ralph and Robert. Al is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Shirley, sons, Mathew Johnson and Allan (Terry) Johnson, granddaughters, Mallori and Stephanie, sister Joan Musso, sisters-in-law, Barbara and Marilyn, brother-in-law, Lason Dorchester, godchildren, Troy (Allie) Nickerson, Tara (Tom) Ruch, special grandnephew, Joshua also many other, nieces, nephews and cousins. Al was a former member of St. Rita's Church and most recently a member of St. Paul's Church. He was retired from the Giant Market, having been employed in the grocery business for 54 years. He was a manager that was very well liked with his heartwarming smile and caring personality. Al enjoyed golf trips that he took with friends, his sons and his nephew Brett to Myrtle Beach. In addition there were many hunting trips to the Adirondack's with friends, his brother-in-law Bob and nephew Brett. He was an avid NY Yankees, Notre Dame and Miami Dolphins fan. Other favorite hobbies included woodworking and being a devout spectator during his godson's wrestling career. Al was a loving and caring husband, father, uncle, godfather, brother and friend he will be dearly missed by many. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Paul's Church on Chenango St. Binghamton, burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 pm. Those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions in Al's name to the charity of your choice . Shirley would like to thank all of his nieces, nephews, family and friends that have been there for them throughout. The family would also like to thank all the Hospice aides and nurses for the compassionate care they received, especially, Lisa Butler, Whitney Andrews, Sister Fredericka, also neighbors, Michelle & Tom Vandermark, Andy Gronski and Tom Cunningham.
