Mary Gentile passed peacefully on May 8, 2012 and was united with her beloved husband, Bill. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Frances Tiesi. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Frann and Michael Lucarelli, Sandy and Bob Hanagan; her grandson, Michael Christopher Lucarelli and his wife Jennifer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ann Tiesi, Frank and Laura Mae Tiesi; sisters-in-law, Joan Gentile and Stephie Gentile; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was born and raised in Binghamton. She was a devout Catholic, a lifelong member of St. Mary's Assumption where she faithfully attended mass. She attended Columbus School and North High School. After high school graduation, Mary became a familiar face in the retail businesses of downtown Binghamton. She loved her working days, her co-workers, and all of the people she met who shopped at Mc Leans and Rogers. After her retirement, Mary loved to garden, attend lunch with the school girls, and spend time with her loving family. Mom provided each of us with strength, comfort, support and wisdom. She was always so concerned for our well being and loved to listen to our daily life stories. Mom taught us to keep on enjoying life no matter what adversity we have to endure. She truly was an inspiration to all of us. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Calling hours will be at James V. DeMarco and Son, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson on Thursday 5-8 p.m. Thank you for the wonderful care given to her by Dr. Spivak, Dr. Kondrup, Dr. Yalamanchili, and the wonderful nurses at Lourdes. The past several weeks, Mary resided at Francis House in Syracuse, where she was continually surrounded by love, kindness, and the most caring people. "Francis House is the best place to be on the way to Heaven." For those who wish, kindly consider directing donations to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
