Walter U. Torto, Sr., 84, of Binghamton passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the NYS Veteran’s Home in Oxford, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Urbano and Felicia Torto: wife, Anna Torto; children, Irene Torto and Albert Torto; brother, Albert D. Torto; sisters and brother-in-law, Dolores and Vincent Rossi and Irene Carles. He is survived by his children, Felicia and James Scherer, PA; Theresa Scheben, Bing; Walter C. and Paulette Torto, Port Crane; Christine and Gary Francisco, Rochester, NY; William U. Torto, Joseph Torto, and Margaret Torto, all of Binghamton; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Novak and Kochis families. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II and a retired employee of the Binghamton City School District. He enjoyed collecting coins, bowling and fishing. He was also the owner of Ann’s Aquarium.
Family and friends are invited to call at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
