

Fawwal, Audeh Edward (Ed) departed this life for a better one on July 12, 2021, after a brief illness. Ed was born in Washington DC on November 15, 1953, the youngest of four children, born to Mansur J. and Zahia M. Fawwal of Ramallah, Palestine. As a child, Ed and his family including brother, Jadd, sisters, Maryann and Margie, moved to Florida. Ed helped at his parents’ various businesses while he was growing up. He completed his undergraduate studies and graduated with honors from the University of Florida and went on to earn his Doctor of Juris Prudence from the University of Florida School of Law. He then moved to Birmingham, AL in 1978 to practice law with his brother. He has been a member of the Alabama Bar Association since April 1979 and was also a member of the Florida Bar Association and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Ed was a Special Assistant State Attorney General, representing the Department of Human Resources, from 1982-2005. Ed was a member of St. George Melkite Greek-Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jadd. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Cynthia Fawwal; his daughter, Dory Fawwal; his sisters; Maryann (Fuad) Sahouria, Margie Kalil, loving wife of the late Abe Kalil; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew. He dearly loved them all. May his memory be eternal.
Services will be held at St. George Melkite Greek-Catholic Church, 425 16th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL, 35205, with visitation on Friday, July 16th, 2021 beginning at 10:00 am, at the church, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Funeral services will be officiated by Father Justin Rose. The interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are handled by Johns Rideouts Chapel, Southside Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the church that Ed was a proud member of, St. George Melkite Greek-Catholic Church (425 16th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL, 35205).
