

Bart B. Kolber, 77, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on March 16, 2024. He was the son of Ruth and Harry Kolber of Wilmington, Delaware. Bart graduated from Pierre S. Dupont High School where he played football and baseball. He graduated from Elon University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, where he worked in the paper, lighting, and industrial field throughout his career. His Engineering contracts brought him to Birmingham where he met his wife, Robin.
Bart served four years in the Air Force (Sgt.) and was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War where he specialized in linguistics, secret communications and coding.
Bart loved all genres of music, reading, exercise, Alabama football, financial analysis, international travel, and family trips to the beach and mountains.
Bart was loved by so many, and his family was his most precious gift. He was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Kolber Meek, and is survived by his loving wife, Robin Rich Kolber, son Ben (Hillary) of Denver, CO, daughter Marcy English. (Colton) of Albuquerque, NM, three grandchildren—Harry, Avery, and Oliver, two brothers Paul Rich (Ann), Sam Meek, and niece, Meredith Welsh and nephew, David Rich. He also maintained a very special bond with his walking group and friends. Robin & Bart were married 40 years and spent those years in a beautiful marriage filled with love, happiness, and laughter. He was kind, gentle, generous, courageous, always positive, and was a devoted husband, father, pop- pop, uncle and brother. We will miss his beautiful smile and big heart. Bart would want us to enjoy each day and celebrate life to the fullest.
Bart’s funeral and memorial service was held March 20, 2024. Contributions in Bart’s memory may be made to Temple Emanu-El Endowment Fund (Loris & David Rich Fund), 2100 Highland Ave, Birmingham, AL. 35205, Collat Jewish Family Services (Mary & Paul Rich Fund) or the charity of your choice.
