Cynthia B Urthaler

Cynthia Irene Bowman Urthaler, born on November 9, 1951, to Raymond Bowman, Jr. and Dorothy Mae Fix Bowman of Birmingham, peacefully passed away on September 8, 2024. A graduate of Ensley High School, class of 1969, and Jacksonville State University, class of 1973, Cindy dedicated more than 30 years to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and later as Administrator for the Graduate Program of the Chairman of Neurobiology.

Cindy is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Ferdinand Urthaler, and his children: Dominique (Dr. Jeffrey) Kerby, Damien Urthaler, and Amanda (Stanley) Tarorick. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Clayton Kerby, William Kerby, Emma Kerby, Jackson Tarorick, Parker Tarorick, Hastings Tarorick, Caroline Tarorick, and Catherine Tarorick.

Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Raymond Edward (Debra) Bowman; her nieces, Kristen Bowman (Philip) Breiner and Erica Rae Bowman; her great-nephew, Bowman Thomas Breiner; her great-niece, Alyce Mae Breiner; and her cherished Aunt Gloria Fix Davis.

Cindy will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, September 20, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
