Dorothy Hester Oliver was taken away from her family by Alzheimer's on March 28, 2014. Dorothy was a graduate of The University of Alabama School of Nursing. ROLL TIDE! She was employed at UAB Hospital, on the Neuro Surgery floor for twenty-eight years. Dorothy loved her career. She also loved working in her flower garden, spending time with her grandchildren, taking her pets to their river home, and traveling with her husband. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Oliver; daughter Carol Ponder (David); Brothers, Mike Hester and Rickie Hester; Sisters, Mary Jo Britton, Margie Steele, Jennifer Butler and Carolyn White; Grandchildren, Julia and Bobby Ponder. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am and a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 1st , 2014 at Johns-Ridout's Funeral Parlors in Birmingham. Inurnment will follow at Alabama National Cemetery
