Errol Brannon Norris

9/11/40 - 12/28/20

Errol Brannon Norris, of Birmingham, AL, passed away at his house on December 28,

2020. Born in Miami, Errol grew up in Birmingham where he lived all of his

post-education life. He attended high school at Harrison Chilhowee Academy in

Tennessee, followed by Clarke College in Mississippi.

Errol began his career at Barber Dairies, where his father Jim Norris worked, and

followed that with a career with both Liberty National Life Insurance and Peninsula Life

Insurance. He enjoyed his retirement spending time at Smith Lake, spending time with

family and making routine visits to all of his many friends and peers around Birmingham.

He was a lifelong dedicated member of the Baptist Church of the Covenant and spent

time volunteering as a driver for St. Vincent’s Hospital. Errol was known for his giving

heart, huge smile and endearing laugh, all of which he shared with friends, family and

strangers.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Betty, and his parents Jim and Marian

Norris. He is survived by his two children, Pennie Elizabeth Helms (Jim) and their

daughters Siena and Roslynn of Rocklin, CA, Michael Norris of Birmingham, sister

Marjorie Kay Nix, brother Jim (Cynthia) of Tuscaloosa, and numerous nieces, nephews,

cousins, and great-nieces and nephews that all loved to be around him.

A private graveside service was held December 30, 2020 at Elmwood Cemetery
