George William Winters

George W. Winters, age 71, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away January 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Vicki L. Winters, brothers Richard Winters (Lisa), and John Winters (Scott Thorne), niece Mary Caroline, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Winters and Caroline W. Winters.

George attended Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Chattanooga High School and from the University of Chattanooga at Tennessee where he was a brother in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

George, an accredited public relations and marketing professional, retired from BellSouth and continued to excel in his career of over 35 years, which included public and media relations and corporate development. He received numerous awards from the Public Relations Council of Alabama including the Grover Smith Lifetime Achievement Award.

George was a welcoming person to everyone he met. He had a charisma that was infectious. He enjoyed fostering relationships and mentoring people in the public relations field and young business men and women in the Huntsville area. George provided leadership to many community groups and was always going the extra mile for his friends. George loved hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
