JAFFE, HOWARD LEONARD Age 83, a lifetime native of Birmingham, passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2012. He graduated from Ramsay High School and the University of Alabama with a Master's Degree in Education. Mr. Jaffe was very proud of his 28 years of faithful service to the United States Air Force Reserve and retired as Lt. Colonel. He was an avid, lifetime supporter of the Jewish community in Birmingham, and his greatest joy in life was helping others. Mr. Jaffe was involved in the scrap metal business all of his life. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Marcia Jaffe; three sons, Ben Tzion Jaffe, Paul Jaffe and Douglas Ray Jaffe; daughter, Rebecca Schaeffer; eight grandchildren, Nechama Jaffe, Devorah Jaffe, Dovid Jaffe, Aryeh Jaffe, Jill Warner, Dana Jaffe, Rachel Jaffe and Brandon Schaeffer; brother, Perry Lee Jaffe; numerous nephews, nieces & cousins. Graveside services will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 a 12 noon at Elmwood Cemetery (Block 40). Rabbi Yossi Posner presiding.
