Joy Leah McDermott

McDermott, Joy Leah 59 of Birmingham, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2012 after a long illness. Joy graduated from Woodlawn High School, and was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church. She worked for over 35 years for the Jones-Stephens Corporation. Joy was a licensed Ham radio operator and loved making and sending "Cards of Joy" on the computer, going to the beach and music. She is survived by her Mother: Anne C. McDermott, Brother: Michael J. McDermott (Shirley), Sister: Judy Blount (Kenny), Aunt: Gertrude Hester,Nieces and Nephews, Christopher McDermott (Jennifer), Jason Smith, and Jonathan Smith (Stephanie). Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews, Terry McDermott, Christian McDermott, Jaime McDermott, Dalton McDermott, Jackson McDermott and Cara Marie Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, E.L. “Bubba” McDermott, and niece Cynthia Marie McDermott. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, July 10, 2012 at Johns-
