

Oct. 1, 1958 - Feb. 9, 2017 Mary Harb Melof, October 1, 1958-February 9, 2017, age 58, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born October 1, 1958 in Detroit Michigan to Sami and Asma Harb who immigrated to the United States in 1957 from Ramallah, Palestine. Her family moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1971 where Mary attended Woodlawn High School. For the past 40 years, Mary was a partner at Trocadero Salon in Mountain Brook Village, where daily she welcomed clients as family with her radiant smile, a ready-laugh, and her vivacious personality. Mary held her friends close to her heart and her family was the source of her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Donald Melof and her five siblings, Dr. Peter Harb (Michele), Rima Deep (Dr. Larry), Susie Fawal (Joseph), Birmingham, Samia Harb, Hanan Ajluni (Husam), Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, as well as her nieces and nephews, Alexee Conroy (Matthew), Leila Deep, Omar Ajluni, Dr. Remy Ajluni, Christopher Fawal (Maggie), Dr. Marc Fawal, Dr. Nicholas Deep (Maya), Alex Harb, James Harb, Reina Ajluni, Maria Harb, Sami Harb, and Anthony Harb, and her great nieces and nephews Quinn, Reem and Fionn Conroy. She is also survived by Pheza Sumners (Shane), her best friend of 45 years and her step-son Bruce Melof, Birmingham, and step-daughter Teresa Melof-Cline (Dave), Portland, sister-in-laws, Cheryl Melof Dyer(Mike), Laurel, Maryland and Sandra Melof. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Straughn and the UAB Palliative Care Unit for their extraordinarily loving care and support over the past few weeks. Visitation will begin at 5pm on Friday, February 10th at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, which will be followed by the Trisagion Prayer Service at 7pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday February 11th at 2pm at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, internment at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Memory of Mary Melof. As someone who loved children, the Church, and traveling the world, it was Mary's wish that the funds be used to support children attending the Ionion Village Church Camp in Greece.
