

Raymond L. Maglothin (89) was born January 9, 1932 in Boydell, Arkansas. He went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2021. He graduated from North Little Rock High School and Henderson State University. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for twelve years. He made a career of the U.S. Army (Aviation) and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served two tours in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with six Bronze Stars, and numerous other decorations, medals, commendations, and citations throughout his career.
He met and married Julia Riggs in 1953. They enjoyed over 67 years of marriage. They moved numerous times over the course of his career before retiring in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was a member of Crestway Baptist Church, Masonic Metro East Solomon #932. He was an active member of Metro York Rite and Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter L. and Ola Pearl Maglothin, brother Jimmy Maglothin, sisters Polly Adair, Opal Russell, Shug Draper, and granddaughter Julia Alexandria Anderson.
He is survived by his wife Julia Riggs Maglothin, sister Jenette Maglothin Anderson, brother Daniel Maglothin, son Mark Maglothin (Karen), daughters Robin Maglothin Ferguson (Mike), and Terri Maglothin Morgan (Rick), grandchildren Shannon Maglothin (Aniecia), Timothy Maglothin (April), Erin Mariner (Eddie), Shawn Maglothin (Sarah), Kate Maglothin McMellon (Matthew), Jason Leaver (Kendall), Adam Ferguson (Hayley), Sarah Maglothin, Erin Ferguson Sorensen (Matthew), Michael Maglothin (Stephanie), Benjamin Leaver, and 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He loved woodworking (he called it making sawdust), buying and selling houses and cars, and spending time with his family of whom he was very proud. He spent much of his time helping others who were less fortunate. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
There will be a Visitation at Crestway Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial to follow after the service in Forest Crest Cemetery.
