William Michael Feeney Jr.

June 6, 1947 - May 3, 2016 William Michael Feeney, Jr., 68, died peacefully at his home in Vestavia Hills on May 3, 2016, surrounded by his family and wrapped in their prayers and songs, after more than a year's battle with brain cancer. Mike was born June 6, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama to William "Bill" Michael Feeney, Sr. and Willa "Grace" Bodiford Feeney Harris. Mike attended McGill Institute, the University of Alabama and Georgia State University. He worked in the restaurant industry for 37 years, retired from Cracker Barrel, and volunteered at St. Rose Academy. He encouraged others to work hard, serve their community, and enjoy life. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that those who wish to make a contribution in his memory do so to UAB Neuro-Oncology Patient Support and Research at 510 20th Street South, FOT 1020, Birmingham, Al 35294-3410, Attn: Shirley Gibbs. Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeanette C. Feeney; sister, Beth (Jay); brother, Patrick; sisters-in-law Karen and Tracey; children, Rebecca (Scott), Ryan (Nichole), Lura (Jeremy), Patricia (Austin), and Michael; grandchildren, Aria, Kendrick, Elijah, Hannah, Clara Grace, William, August James, Avery, Morgan, Charlie, and Zoe.
