Abel Gonzalez

Abel Gonzalez was born on July 17, 1945, in Tijuana, Mexico to Toribio and Amalia Gonzalez. He came to the United States at the age of 14 years old to make a life for himself. In Compton, CA he met the Ramos family and fell in love with Rosa Maria Ramos. On December 21, 1968, Abel and Rosa were married by Pastor Ramon Estrada. Later, Abel would be baptized on October 28, 1972, by Pastor Hector Flores in Fontana, CA. As a result, he moved his family to Hayward, CA to enroll in bible college and grow in the Word of God. In 1975, he would begin his career with the University of California, Berkeley, and later transfer to the University of California, Riverside, where he remained until he retired. He went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Maria, his children, Rose Ward and Robert Rodriguez, Abel and Sylvia Gonzalez, Moises Gonzalez, his many grandchildren, and great grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Francisco Gonzalez and Clemente Gonzalez and his sisters, Carmen Martir, Amalia Penaloza, Magdalena Salazar, and Martha Herrera.

He will be remembered as a faithful and loving husband, a caring and protective father, a giving family member and friend, and man of the Word. His personality, laugh, and smile will be missed, but never forgotten.

A visitation for Abel will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Green Acres Mortuary, 11715 Cedar Ave., Bloomington, CA 92316. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 11715 Cedar Ave., Bloomington, CA 92316. A committal service will occur Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Ave., Bloomington, CA 92316.
