

Dyan McIntosh was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 24, 1954. She was the daughter of Joe and Pina Avila. Dyan grew up in Riverside, CA. Dyan was raised with three siblings. She had a younger brother, Jose and two younger sisters, Maria and Delilah. Dyan was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Dyan had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Dyan was an active child who took part in swimming. Dyan's memorable achievements included being a great writer and good at math. However, to Dyan, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
A typical teenager, Dyan had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from John W. North High School in 1973. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Her favorite classes in high school were Math and English. The counselor she admired most was Mrs. Morris.
Her first marriage, April 10, 1977 and second marriage, June 13, 1999 Dyan exchanged wedding vows in her First marriage with Ernie Perez and second marriage, Dennis McIntosh at Church of God Seventh Day of Bloomington, CA. Empathic and loyal, Dyan was committed to making her new family happy.
Dyan worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Dyan was blessed with two sons, Ernie and Nicholas. Another blessing for Dyan was the gift of two granddaughters, Destiny and Avery Perez.
Dyan enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Dyan worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was an escrow officer. She was employed for over 8 years with Laurel Hill Escrow Services. Dyan always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Dyan enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were fishing, surfing, taking pictures, kayaking, singing and dancing and reading her Bible. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was happier sharing her interests with others.
Dyan found pleasure in sports. In high school, Dyan enjoyed swimming. Recreational sports included swimming, surfing and kayaking. Dyan was also a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were Lakers basketball, Angels and Dodgers baseball and Rams football.
Dyan was a woman who took pride in upholding her beliefs. So it is little wonder that she took an active role in her community, serving on committees for the AA and NA.
Dyan’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day for 56 years. During that time, she was very active.
Dyan enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico and Cabo San Lucas.
Dyan was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. Some of her favorites were Duster, a Maltese dog, King a German Shepard, Lovo a German Shepherd and Chico a Pekingese. They were best friends for many years. Her family was rounded out by Peety Tweetie a bird and her cats, Tom and Fluffy.
Dyan passed away on August 3, 2010 at her home in San Diego. Dyan fought a brave battle against squamous cell carcinoma and schleroderma. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; sons, Ernie and Nicholas; granddaughters, Destiny and Avery; daughters-in-law, Erica and Linda; brother, Jose, sisters Maria and Delilah and nieces Frances, Jessica and Angelique. Services will be held at Green Acres Memorial Chapel in Bloomington, CA. Dyan will be laid to rest in Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
Simply stated, Dyan was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Dyan leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Dyan McIntosh.
