Emma Hernandez Urbano

Emma Hernandez, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 93. She was born on March 9, 1932, in El Salvador, to Santiago Martinez and Concepcion Urbano. As the middle child of 11 siblings, Emma grew up surrounded by a large, loving family that laid the foundation for her strength and resilience.

In the early 1970s, Emma made the bold decision to move to California, where she would spend over 50 years creating a home for herself and her family. A hard-working and determined woman, Emma faced life’s challenges with a quiet strength and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. She never gave up, no matter the circumstances, and her perseverance left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

Emma was the proud mother of six children, and her legacy lives on through them and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a nurturing presence in the lives of her family, offering love, support, and guidance through the years.

Emma is survived by her sister, Fidelia Urbano, and her brother, Mario Urbano. She leaves behind her son, Edgardo Villafranco, and her daughters, Sonia Hernandez and Francisca Escalante, as well as countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

In her free time, Emma found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved drinking coffee, often paired with sweet bread, and had a particular fondness for jewelry, which she wore with pride. These small things brought her comfort, but it was her deep love for family that truly defined her.

Emma’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, hard work, and love. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her remarkable spirit.
