John is survived by his two children , daughter Marie Therese Smith (San Bernardino) and son-in-law, Ivan Julian Smith and son John Charles Anicic III (Fontana), Grandchildren Cristopher Andrew Doherty (San Diego) and Mathew Bryce Anicic (Florence, AL), his sister, Carol Marie Duffell and brother-in-law, David W. Duffell of West Palm Beach, FL. John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rae Ellen (Miller). John was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
John was very dedicated to preserving the history of Fontana and it's surrounding areas... He was President of the Fontana Historical Society, being a key figure in creating the Pepper Street house museum (first farm house of A.B. Miller, founder of Fontana). He also was a key figure of creating the museum on Kaiser Steel. He's the author of two Arcadia Publishing books (Fontana and Kaiser Steel). He was the regional VP of the conference of California Historical Society. He worked as a manager for many years at Foothill Builders Mart. He enjoyed spending time at the Fontana Senior Center with his friends for lunch. His family admired his genuine and deep love for his wife. When she fell ill, he put a halt to his own interests and passions to care for her full time.
A special thank you to the people at Brenton Hospice in Rancho Cucamonga for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards La Fuente Lavender LLC board and care homes for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Service will be on Dec. 26th at 1:00 PM at Green Acres Memorial Park & Mortuary Chapel at 11715 Cedar Ave Bloomington, CA 92316.
