

John Norman Larsen a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on February 6, 2014. John left this world surrounded by his loving family. John was preceded in death by his father John N. Larsen Sr., his mother Lucille Larsen, and son Stephen Larsen. John leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Monean Larsen; daughters Sue Hayden Matt), Norma Moncrieff (Mel) and Pam Wilfahrt (Jim); grandchildren Noel Larsen (Vanessa) , Kevin Larsen (Lisa), Aimee Mendoza (Daniel), Kristin Barrett (Krista), Justin Ledwidge (Rachel), Chris Ledwidge, Sarah Wilfahrt, Michelle Wilfahrt, and John Michael Larsen (Heather); and seven great grandchildren.
John served his country in the Korean War as a Navy radar specialist. Upon being honorably discharged, John and Monean made their home and raised their family in Rialto, California. John, Monean and the children lived in France for three years while John provided radar instruction to French radar operators. Upon returning to Rialto from France, John built and owned a successful business for 20 years. Upon selling and retiring from the business, John joined the City of San Bernardino as a heating and air conditioning specialist in 1980 and remained with the City until his final retirement in 1995.
John loved motorcycles and enjoyed long rides with his buddies, as well as a solo trip from New York to California on his new BMV he had shipped from France. John was an avid sportsman who enjoyed spending time fishing and shooting especially with his grandsons. One of John’s great passions was the swap meet, where he was a regular at numerous events across the San Bernardino valley. John lived for and was the master of getting a “good deal”.
John was a kind, honest, caring man of high integrity who was dedicated to his family throughout his entire life. His beliefs, values, and the many beautiful memories he created will be carried on through his children and their families.
Services and burial will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Green Acres Memorial Park & Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Loma Linda Veteran’s Hospital or the Wounded Warriors.
